If you are a fellow yoga teacher, looking for some inspiration for a new class flow (to teach or to take as a student), my minimal cues classes are a great way to try something new.
If you are a more intermediate to advanced student, that doesn’t need all the alignment cues and just wants to try something fresh, with the chance to turn more inwards, my minimal cues are great for you too.
The following is 5 mini flows making up a half hour practice I shared recently.
Hold each pose for two to three breaths before moving on. No props are required, but I would recommend having a couple of blocks handy in case you need them in any poses.
1. Grounded Flow – Table top, cat/cow (few rounds), forearm cat/cow (few rounds), forearm plank, sphinx, side sphinx to right, side sphinx to left, baby cobra x5, child’s pose.
2. Up and Down Flow – downward dog, three legged dog (right leg up, open hip up, Warrior 1, pyramid, low lunge, quad stretch, dolphin pose, forearm plank, locust pose with clasped hands, downward dog or vinyasa. Repeat on the other side.
3. Standing Flow – downward dog, three legged dog (right leg up). Warrior 1, revolved triangle, standing splits, chair pose, tree pose, downward dog or vinyasa. Repeat on the other side.
4. Seated Flow – Seated wide legged forward fold, side bend to right side, side bend to left side, fold to right, fold to left, fold to center again.
5. Reclined Flow – Bridge pose, reclined spinal twist, second side, reclined shoe lace, second side shoe lace, savasana.
These flows come from my latest minimal cues practice. Join me to simply follow along to the titles for a 30 minute practice.
