We are a little over a week into June, and the number one thing I am asked about at this time of year is, "how do I get summer ready?"    Let me start with this little caveat, I despise that term and the notion of a "perfect bikini body." That being said, as the layers come off I understand we all want to feel a little more confident in our skin. In my humble opinion, my two-week Yin and Yang Yoga Challenge is the perfect answer for that!   Like the name yin and yang suggests, it is the perfect balance between strengthening work and relaxing anxiety relief. Mixing it up from one day to the next to give you the best of both worlds.

In my humble opinion, my two-week Yin and Yang Yoga Challenge is the perfect answer for that!

Like the name yin and yang suggests, it is the perfect balance between strengthening work and relaxing anxiety relief. Mixing it up from one day to the next to give you the best of both worlds.

So why exactly is it called Yin and Yang? Well if it’s not obvious yet the Yin stands for Yin yoga, but the Yang comes in with the slightly more sweaty practice of Vinyasa flows. The two balance you out (literally and figuratively) with a well rounded practice.

How does it work? Unlike many yoga challenges you will see floating around on social media, marked by a certain hashtag, this challenge starts whenever you are ready. The day you choose to start is day one of the program. You can do it morning, noon and night. Whatever time suits your schedule that day.

Take it with you wherever you go! I know that summertime often means cottage or camping trips, and sometimes even getting in to that rare no wifi zone. Well these videos can be downloaded and done wherever you might go. So roll out your mat on the dock, in the woods or by your desk.

Do it alone or with friends! The decision is yours. For some having an accountability buddy can help you stay on track, others like to push themselves. Stream it by yourself on your smartphone, or project it on the flat screen with a room full of your besties. Yoga is good that way, it can be done totally alone, or in as large of a group as you want.

Classes are 20-30 minutes and totally manageable to fit into your day to day. This might be the best reason to explain why I recommend the 14-day challenge to those who want to get “summer ready.” Small actionable steps are a great way to start, or get back into, a routine.
